Updates to Income Tax Brackets and Medicare Levy Low-Income Brackets
Effective 22 June 2026, updates will be implemented in ANZ’s systems to account for:
- The new income tax brackets as announced in the 2026-27 Federal Budget.
- The new Medicare Levy thresholds for low-income earners set by the Australian Government in line with movements in the Consumer Price Index (CPI).
As this is a recent change, it may take employers some time to apply the new tax brackets within their payroll systems. During this transition period, using gross income for application purposes may provide a more accurate reflection of the customer’s current and ongoing income.
If using gross income, please ensure that any ongoing deductions noted on the payslip are captured as an expense within the customer’s Statement of Financial Position.
Inflight Applications:
- For new applications submitted on or after 22 June 2026, new tax brackets will apply when verifying using gross income. If verifying using net income, further income documents may be required to reflect the new tax rates.
- For all existing inflight applications, new tax brackets can be applied if requested, by providing further income documents which reflect the new tax rates.

ANZ Simplifies Application Extension/NCCP timeline Reset Process for Purchase and Construction Applications
Effective 22 June 2026, ANZ is simplifying the application extension/NCCP timeline reset process for eligible residential purchase and construction loan applications where there are no changes to customer or guarantor financial circumstances or the customer product feature requirements and objectives.
This updated process, which relates to resetting the 110 day NCCP timeline, aims to simplify document requirements for extensions to eligible Approval in Principle (AIP) or Approval Subject To (AST) applications.
What is changing?
- The 110 day NCCP timeline may be reset up to a maximum of 3 times within 12 months of the first decision date for eligible applications.
- Once this extension limit (or 12 month timeframe) is reached, a new application is required, with the original to be withdrawn.
- Simplified documentation for eligible purchase and construction loan application extensions:
For the first, second and third application/NCCP timeline extensions, (within 12 months of the first decision date) the following documentation is required for eligible applications:- An Extension Declaration form signed by the customer(s), guarantor(s) (only required for servicing and spousal guarantors) and the broker
- New Income documentation, (including for any servicing guarantors or spousal guarantors)
- OFI statements for account conduct / funds to complete / genuine savings where applicable.
The following documents are no longer required for eligible purchase and construction loan application extensions: Statement of Position (SoP) - Broker Interview Guide (BIG) - Applicant / Guarantor Declarations (AGD) - Broker Acknowledgement email (this has now been incorporated into the Extension Form).
- Updates to the Extension Declaration Form
- The Extension Declaration form has been updated to now contain a broker declaration
- Reminder: The Broker has an obligation to have a conversation with the borrowers and guarantors in line with ANZ’s current processes.
- Extension declaration form can be signed electronically using Brokers preferred digital signature provider
- The Extension Declaration form has been updated to now contain a broker declaration
- Applications that are less than 12 months from First Decision Date and have fewer than three extensions/resets can use the new streamlined process.
- Applications that are more than 12 months from First Decision Date or have already been extended 3 times will require a new application to be submitted, and the original to be withdrawn.
Note: If the application involves an investment property purchase, please ensure you have determined whether gearing is applicable and seek reassessment accordingly. Read more: Negative Gearing Changes
Important Note: While these changes apply to the110-day NCCP timeframe extension process for eligible purchase and construction loan applications, there is no change to the 80-day NCCP timeframe extension process for refinances, cash-out and any applications with a linked credit card application.
